I don’t distinguish abusing the 999 emergency service number from anyone, male or female young or old. I make no distinction from the Police, Ambulance or Fire service they all have a function to play in an emergency. Every hoax call wastes an operator’s time which could mean someone trying to get through to 999 with a genuine emergency has to wait.
This Celtic supporter thought it would be funny to waste a 999 operators time with what he thought and perceived as a “joke” but the joke’s on him, as as he filmed the conversation with himself and the 999 call handler and posted it to social media!
Police Scotland have seen the video and will be making enquiries to find out who the person in the video is.
People saying, “it was just a joke” guess what, that’s what every hoax caller to the 999 emergency services says. Guess what, Police and Courts don’t view it as a joke.
